An Accomplice in Something Other seeks to translate the experience of being in the landscape, and takes on the visible transformation of the landscape through human exploitation. Motivated by experimentation in her studio, Mariana focused on surface textures through mono-printing, collage, stitching and painting with an emphasis on mark-making as a means of exploring this new visual narrative in her art practice.
Mariana del Castillo is an Ecuadorian-born, Australian multidisciplinary Contemporary artist living on Ngambri/Ngunnawal land (Canberra region).
She has had 10+ solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions; most recently in Shoalhaven Regional Gallery (2023), and New England Regional Museum (currently), with site-specific installations at the 2022 Design Festival in Canberra, subsequently relocated to Southbank, Melbourne. Mariana’s works are held in public and private collections in Australia and overseas.
