GREAT AUSTRALIAN NERD and other Degenerate Pictures by artist, Barbara Wulff
Traveling to Europe by ship at age nine the artist intuited that ‘color by number’ would be a way
of bringing about healing between her graphomaniac mother and computer systems analyst
father. The zoomable painting installation that is the artist’s lockdown project was chosen by
Facebook friends for the dramatic ‘photo bomb’.
The Merperson Saga series of illustrations derives from her mother’s funerary urns for the
artist’s brother David Wulff who was a sailor. They were made when starting a speculative fiction
about a flooded Australia.
Included are retrospective life drawings, body art, sculptures and computer prints inspired by
German Expressionism.
