Southern Highlands Jazz has two special guests joining the legendary Southern Highlands Jazz Quartet (Ren Marcon, Peter Locke, David Seidel and Josh Morgan). On stage with the Quartet at the Bowral Bowling Club on Sunday 8 September are vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Clare O’Meara and trumpeter and jazz educator Eric Dunan.
2018 CMAA Musician Of The Year, Clare is a professional multi-instrumentalist from Sydney. With a career spanning over three decades, her proficiency in piano, violin, accordion, guitar and voice has taken her on a vast array of musical experiences across Australia and the world. She has toured extensively and recorded with many of Australia’s musical greats both nationally and internationally, performing at major music festivals in Europe, USA, Asia and TV appearances including The Voice, Australian Idol and ABC’s The Recording Studio. Often referred to as a ‘Genre Jumper’ she has brought her influences to all scenes Folk, Rock, Pop, Country, Jazz and Celtic.
Eric is a trumpeter, conductor and musical educator who established and led the jazz program at Wollongong Conservatorium of Music for over 20 years. After finishing a performance degree at California State University, Eric worked as a freelance trumpet player in San Francisco, performing with numerous jazz, blues, and funk bands. During the 1990s he toured with Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, a soul-rock-jazz band. They regularly played legendary San Francisco clubs such as The Fillmore as well as major festivals throughout America, where they shared billing with bands including Tower of Power and Credence Clearwater Revival. In Australia, Eric leads his own Quintet, and has played with John Morrison, Jacki Cooper, and Fabien Hevia.
The $35 ticket price ($30 for SH Jazz members, $20 for student/child) plus booking fee is for event entry only, with reserved table seating.
Food and drink is available to order at the venue. If you have any special song requests or seating preferences, please let us know when you book! Doors open from 1:00pm with the band playing from 2-5pm.
The Bowlo’s kitchen will be serving lunch from 12 noon, and you are very welcome to come early and eat in the main room before the show. Our doors will open at 1:00pm and the band will start at 2:00pm, playing through until 5:00pm. Lunch orders will continue until 2:30pm, with a snack menu and drinks (including tea and coffee) available through the remainder of the afternoon.
