Come to the opening of a new exhibition at the SHAC: MADE IN AMERICA is a new series of 11 paintings by Polish-born artist Dominik Zarowny, reminiscing on the demise of the American Dream with darkly cartoonish figures and rapid, intuitive brushwork.
Throughout the 1990s, American TV and cinema had a strong cultural influence in Poland – where Zarowny was born – and the wider world, setting a benchmark for freedom, opportunity, heroism, wealth, and success. Zarowny caricatures the U.S.A’s subsequent self-destruction, in this timely and impactful exhibition – his first in Australia.
