Music from Stage and Screen
The Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra invites you to join them in their 2022 Series 4 concerts where they will take you on a listening journey to some of the world’s most famous operas and favourite films.
The orchestra will transport you from Wagner’s overture to The Mastersingers of Nuremberg and Ennio Morricone’s hauntingly beautiful Gabriel’s Oboe played by soloist Michelle Biasutti to John Williams’ Raiders of the Lost Ark; and from the Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana to a suite from Les Miserables.
Famous landmarks along the way will be operatic arias and duets sung by Judith Rough who has captivated SHSO audiences in the past, and the brilliant operatic tenor Benjamin Oxley. Young Southern Highlands opera student Amelia- Jane Lester will also join the vocal line-up singing Giordani’s Caro mio ben.
The Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra was formed in 2014 and has a membership of over 60 musicians drawn from regional towns ranging from Campbelltown to Goulburn, as well as the South Coast of NSW. While the orchestra eagerly awaits the return to its “home” performance space at the Bowral Memorial Hall in 2023, it hopes you will join them at the Moss Vale Services Club Auditorium on December 3rd and 4th for this journey from opera to film.
