CANCELLED – NSW Siberian Express Introduction to Sled Dog Racing

NSW Siberian Express are holding our introduction to sledding May 9th 2020.
If you have a dog with energy to burn sled dog racing could be the sport for you. Our committee will provide all the equipment needed for you to try sledding all you need to do is bring your dog, some water, a comfortable chair. If you like camping bring your tent the committee will be heading to Belanglo state forest Saturday afternoon and camp in the forest you will need to bring some water( there is no water in the forest)
Some of our committee & club members will take their dogs out for a run on Sunday morning, if you would like to camp and take your dog for a run on Sunday there will be plenty of our committee or members who will be happy to assist you.
All breeds are welcome to our events, when you think of sledding you naturally think of Siberian Husky or Alaskan Malamute the truth is all medium to large breeds who are capable of pulling and are fit & healthy are suited to this sport.
There are 3 disciplines to choose from you can, take to the track on a scooter/kick bike, there is also the option of using a push bike this discipline is called Bikejoring or for the extra fit mushers you can try canicross, we have a custom made belt that you hook up to your dog & you run through the forest, not for the faint hearted.
Registration from 11.30 to 12.30. The demonstration/talk will begin at 1pm sharp & we do ask for everyone to arrive no later than 12.30 so we can get started at 1pm.
After you’ve given sledding a try, we will provide a free sausage sizzle & we’ll have soft drinks available for sale.
