In celebration of Refugee Week, Jolyon Hoff, director, and Muzafar Ali, the Afghan refugee who is followed in the film, return to Bowral to bring us a joyful, soulful and enlightening film that looks at Muzafar’s life in Australia as he explores his Afghan identity and his connection to the Afghan cameleers who have been in Australia for 160 years. The film explores identity, the relationship with ancient indigenous culture, generational displacement, belonging and the strength of human connections across time and cultures. It premiered to great acclaim at the Adelaide Film Festival recently and was considered such an important film that the SA Arts Minister spoke about it in parliament, in the context of the fall of Kabul, our First Nations people and connections to refugees coming into our communities now and in the past.
