Selby & Friends opens its 19th Season in 2025 with a concert tour in tribute to the great French composer Maurice Ravel in the 150th anniversary year of his birth.
Ravel’s Piano Trio in A minor holds prime positioning within this program that also includes piano trios by two iconic Austrian composers, Mozart and Zemlinsky.
Pianist Kathryn Selby and her brilliant guest artists violinist Daniel Dodds and cellist Julian Smiles.
Composed 15 years before Bolero, the orchestral blockbuster that made Ravel a household name, his Piano Trio in A minor is a testament to his extraordinary gifts as a chamber music composer.
In performance here with Australian World Orchestra concertmaster Daniel Dodds, and Goldner String Quartet cellist Julian Smiles, and Artistic Director Kathryn Selby, Selby & Friends unpacks this marvellous music within a program of fascinating repertoire diversity, including the Mozart Piano Trio No. 5 in C major, K. 548 and the Zemlinsky Piano Trio in D minor, Op. 3
