Sunday Sessions Jazz: ‘The Bowlo IX’ featuring Kate Wadey

Fresh from her tour of Japan to perform a string of gigs and workshops in Tokyo, Niigata, Osaka, and Kobe, Southern Highlands Jazz Inc. is privileged to host the fabulous Kate Wadey, singing with the Sunday Sessions Quartet on Sunday the 12th of November at Bowral Bowling Club.

Kate has gained national (and now international!) recognition for her sweet, sure, and rich voice that exudes effortless charm and sophistication. With wonderful Jazz undertones, and without fuss or bravado, she navigates the emotions and melody with equal skill, providing strength of character in each song.

Kate began her performance career in Adelaide where she was singing in gospel choirs and jazz vocal ensembles at 13 years old. She completed her Honours in Acting at Flinders University in 2010, and now resides in Sydney’s hub of thriving jazz musicians. Having made a side step towards music and away from theatre, Kate’s voice has led her in the right direction. Last year, Kate released her third studio album “Forever Like This”, written in collaboration with some of Australia’s finest composers and musicians, showcasing Kate’s sophisticated storytelling and enchanting voice. She will have also just performed at the Sydney International Woman’s Jazz Festival when she heads down to Bowral to sing for us.

The $30 ticket price ($20 for student/child) is for event entry only, with reserved table seating. If you have any special song requests or seating preferences, please let us know when you book!

The Bowlo’s kitchen will be serving lunch from 12 noon, and you are very welcome to come early and eat in the main room before the show. Our doors will open at 1:00pm and the band will start at 2:00pm, playing through until 5:00pm. Lunch orders will continue until 2:30pm, with a snack menu and drinks (including tea and coffee) available through the remainder of the afternoon.
