Transform: shirts reimagined exhibition challenged ten Sydney based artists to create new works beginning with a shirt or shirts – a challenge to repurpose, reimagine and transform shirts into new works by deconstructing, reconstructing, embellishing, decorating, stitching, piecing, coiling, recolouring, redyeing, overprinting, interlacing, or weaving.
Artists: Vita Cochran, Michele Elliott, Liz Gemmell, Cecilia Heffer, Christina Newberry, Emma Peters, Barbara Rogers, Jane Theau, Liz Williamson and Melinda Young.
Location: Sturt Galleries in Mittagong, NSW.
Exhibition dates: 23 July to 10 September
Opening: Sunday 23 July, 11am with opening speaker curator and writer Julie Ewington followed by artists talks by all artists at 12.30pm in the gallery.
