Southern Highlands artists Dean Boyce and Jane Courtenay have put together a striking collection of their recent works. Boyce, a retired journalist and author, has been painting since art school, now exclusively in watercolour. A figurative painter, his approach to subjects is eclectic, but favours landscapes and seascapes, the natural world. “There is something mystical about a good landscape in particular,” he says, “that entices the viewer into the frame to explore the painted world. That is what I strive for.”Jane Courtenay works mainly in pastel. She has gained a widening following for her exquisite portraits. “I am always drawn to faces and would like my pictures to tell the subject’s story, to speak to the viewer,” she says. Opening: Friday 15th Nov at 6pm.
