On 26 January 2023, share in the excitement of Australia Day in Berrima Village where the local community is taking celebrations out into the street with the help of Wingecarribee Shire Council.
A long cherished Southern Highlands tradition, the return of Australia Day fun to Australia’s oldest and best-preserved Georgian village, brings so much to look forward to, from classic cars of every make and colour, to a village market of local restaurants, live action with our resident Blacksmith and the RFS, and loads of family fun.
Celebrations begin with a character-filled Citizenship Ceremony outside historic Berrima Courthouse Museum at 9:30am. 50 new residents will be welcomed to the shire and the occasion brings some 500 visitors to town for the day.
Be inspired by our Australia Day 2023 Ambassador Mel Thomas, passionate campaigner for strong hearted action to break the cycle of family and domestic violence.
From 10am to 4pm, enjoy true community spirit, exploring the heritage laneways of historic Berrima brought to life with classic cars of every colour, and a Village Market, that extends from Berrima Gaol on Argyle St (cnr Wilshire) to the Pub at the corner of Wingecarribee St.
