Enjoy the beauty of cool climate gardens in Spring. Ramble through large gardens and smaller ones, along garden paths, under towering trees with spring flowers everywhere. And there are stalls to browse and wine to taste. There’s lots to inspire on the Bundanoon Garden Ramble.
Each year, 8 lovely garden owners in Bundanoon open their gardens just for Ramble weekend. The aim is to find a variety of gardens that will inspire or simply let people enjoy wandering through a garden. The comment we get is that gardens are “accessible” as in they offer ideas that are attainable rather than being perfect show gardens.
In 2026 we have a traditional and not so traditional cottage garden, a formal garden, a large rural garden, a permaculture family garden, a forest garden with a lake and a two very different town gardens.
Approx 1500 visitors join the Ramble each year, some are regulars coming every year. People come from as far away as Sydney, Canberra and the South Coast.
- There are stalls in the village hall and in the gardens, they have become an increasingly popular part of the Ramble. Plant stalls, gift stalls, garden sculptures and wine tasting.
- Free shuttle buses run from the hall around to the gardens, some people walk, or bike and many drive.
- A committee of 7-8 people organise the Ramble – finding gardens, organising the markets, running the shuttle buses, publicity, ticket sales etc.
- It takes 70 volunteers from the community to run the Ramble – welcoming visitors to each garden, driving the shuttle buses, selling tickets, putting up signs and the gazeboes each garden. Volunteers receive a free ticket to the Ramble.
- The Ramble is part of the Bundanoon Community Association and money raised goes towards the costs of operating the Hall and supporting community groups etc. In 2026, the Ramble is making a donation to the Southern Highlands Wildlife Sanctuary whose headquarters are in Bundanoon.
When you need a break, you’ll be warmly welcomed at the local cafés and restaurants.
