Carnival – Carnivale Exhibition

The Artists of The Round Yard or as we are known ARY are an incorporated group of local artists who hold autumn and spring exhibitions at Retford Park each year. The collective has been staging exhibitions in both the White Cottage Gallery and the Round Yard since 2017. The group has developed a symbiotic and special relationship with Retford Park.
The group was formed in part to take advantage of and showcase the dramatic and architecturally significant Round yard building on the Retford Park Estate. This Spring’s offering will showcase works by fifteen of the group’s artists inspired by the theme Carnival – Carnivale. We chose this festive title as it seemed so appropriate to the season. It’s a Theme we were all excited to work with, giving the show a vibrant and exciting approach using all of our varied practices, such as ceramics, painting sculpture and more. The round and conical roof of ‘The Round yard’ building is reminiscent of the High-top Tents of the Circus and Carnivals of old.
