The Nomad String Quartet was formed in Sydney as the Ben Adler Quartet in 2021. Thus far, it has given over 150 concerts to more than 45,000 people across Sydney, playing music ranging from Vivaldi to Daft Punk, Mozart to Michael Jackson, Mendelssohn to Danish folk songs, Tchaikovsky to Morricone, Borodin to Hans Zimmer and more.
In 2014, the Danish String Quartet released ‘Wood Works’, a collection of their own arrangements of Scandinavian folksongs. These stunning pieces took the string playing world by storm, and their second volume ‘Last Leaf’ was eagerly received in 2019.
For this program, we Nomads have handpicked our favourite numbers from both volumes and composed music to extend and connect them. The result is a Danish feast in seven courses, ranging from poignant Faroese wedding songs to contemporary Swedish folk funk to blistering reels inspired by music of the British Renaissance – and everything in between!
We invite you to enjoy the emotional journey through the landscape of the most beautiful music you’ve never heard!
