Eager to be entertained outdoors? Desiring a destination experience?

Escape to Opera at The Loch for an unforgettable celebration of glorious food and spectacular song on the weekend of November 21-22. Taking a leaf from the likes of festival opera at Longborough, set in the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, or the grand estate of Glyndebourne in the English countryside, The Loch at Berrima turns live performance into a destination experience like no other.

A celebration of glorious food and spectacular song, Opera at The Loch is enjoyed alfresco, over a lavish lunch or dinner, in the picturesque guesthouse gardens. Don’t miss this exciting creative collaboration between Australia’s internationally acclaimed Heldentenor, Richard Lane, and adventurous chef Brigid Kennedy of The Loch at Berrima.

Expect a program filled with operatic arias, duets and operetta. Lane’s repertoire spans the major tenor roles of Puccini, Verdi, Wagner, Strauss and Beethoven. He is joined by celebrated Australian Soprano, Catherine Bouchier with Musical Director/Accompanist John Martin and will proudly showcase an emerging young artist who is both his student and protégé.

“I’m very much looking forward to a super experience of sharing my absolute passion for music with a wonderful group of people who feel the same way,” Richard Lane says.

You can look forward to the very best of Southern Highlands food and wine taking centre stage in the culinary masterpiece that Brigid will create to accompany each performance. The menus feature her own estate grown ingredients, from fresh vegetables and free range beef to artisan cheeses made with milk from Woodlands Dairy, “down the road”, along with locally sourced South Coast Oysters, Thirlmere poultry, craft beers and wines selected from Brigid’s pick of local vineyards.

“The magic of tailoring a great artistic experience to our intimate farm garden setting is what it’s all about,” host Brigid says. “A procession of fabulous food will appear at your table as those powerful voices ring out over rolling green hills. Picture yourself marinating in music while swirling a glass of luscious pinot from a neighbouring vineyard.”

On the menu:
Duck parfait on fennel croute w sauterne poached grapes and cornishons
South Coast oysters with mignonette
Tasting plate of meats, dips and farm pickles with fresh bread
*

Opera at The Loch will raise much needed funding for Woodlands RFS in the wake of the recent bushfires and support Wingecarribee Vocal Muster, a charity founded by Richard Lane to advance arts for secondary school students in the shire.

In partnership with Aria and DNSW’s Great Southern Nights, we are also supporting artists and production crews impacted by COVID-19.

Live lunch and dinner music experiences at The Loch have quickly become a sell-out sensation, attracting lovers of the arts from far and wide, along with those seeking something special to do on the weekend. The intimate nature of these events is a big part of their appeal. A limited number of tickets is available to each performance.
