AT THE RIVER – Kate Carruthers paintings – Michael Warner Ceramics

KATE CARRUTHERS
I originally began my art journey at college while studying ceramics in Glasgow and afterwards set up our own Pottery and Gallery on the Isle of Mull which I ran with my husband Michael for 10 years before moving to Australia in 2009.

I began painting landscapes onto clay panels before moving my work onto canvas and eventually plywood. Now based in Braidwood I draw inspiration from the beautiful bushland that surrounds the town. Clouds are also a huge source of inspiration for me as their everchanging nature and the way light filters through them as something I aim to capture on a daily basis.

MICHAEL WARNER
Michael studied Ceramics in Maskiko, Japan from 1999-2001 before moving to the Uk to continue working in ceramic studios. He met Kate( his artist wife) on the Isle of Mull and they set up business together making a wide range of ceramics for their Pottery and Gallery.
Now based in Braidwood his work focuses on larger vessels which are coiled and thrown on the wheel which he enjoys the challenge of making. He has also built a small wood kiln which he fires work for exhibitions and is currently experimenting with soda firing.
