These paintings are a selection of works I have made since graduating from the National Art School in 2012.
When looking for a theme for this exhibition I decided instead to show my journey of searching and experimentation, I have never looked for a particular style of painting but have allowed the works to evolve over time, but I did notice that I regularly use the colour orange which led to the name “Burnt Orange”.
My working life was with horses which greatly influenced my early paintings, the form and elegance of the animal being a great vehicle for the figurative abstract compositions but since retiring in 2020 and having so much more time available, I find that I am drawn more and more to the landscape and the pleasure in painting it as I see it.
I am now able to concentrate on painting and experimenting with texture colour and space which I feel allow the works to speak for themselves and being able to create the images I see around me is exciting and fulfilling.
