Days ending in Y….everyday is another day we can appreciate beauty in everyday things,
including clothing. Our special pieces, the ones we can’t throw out aMer
40+ years, or that we resurrect every season, are actually tacQle memories.
The ubiquitous Levi denim jacket and even a crisp white business shirt are
contemporary classics of everyday wear.
Then there are fabrics from anQque and vintage French linen home furnishings, daQng back
to the 17thC to 19thC, repurposed as one-off shirts and jackets.
Or what was known as our ‘Sunday Best’ such as a treasured crimson velvet dress with
matching Mary Jane shoes, worn unQl we outgrew them, but forever a fond reminder of
childhood days.
We tuck away these special pieces in wardrobes or store them in boxes out of sight. I believe
they are worthy of display and glances of appreciaQon as we go about our daily lives.
