Retford Park National Trust, Old South Road, Bowral NSW, Australia

Event Date: 5 May 2021, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

This highly interactive workshop introduces participants to the diversity, ecology and curiosities of the Kingdom Fungi, focusing on fungi found at Retford Park and in the surrounding region, but also within a wider Australian and international context. It includes an overview of the major types of fungi, the basics of fungus identification and the natural and cultural history of fungi, including edibility/toxicity. Following a delicious picnic style lunch we will foray through the magnificent gardens of Retford Park to search for species of interest.

With Dr Alison Pouliot, an ecologist, environmental photographer and honorary fellow at the Australian National University. Alison’s fungal research spans both northern and southern hemispheres where she is actively involved in fungal conservation and ethnomycology, conducting over 400 fungus workshops and forays over the last two decades.
