Stephen Lowe – Flightless Lights
I create light sculptures using Ostrich and Emu eggs. I source recycled objects from the past and transform them into assemblage forms that are compelling in
the present.
Through the egg, light is filtered and can be directed, distorted, reflected and shaped as part of the sculptural composition. Form is integrated with the exploration of light.
My lamps enhance a layered lighting design and offer a ‘focal glow’, an ‘ambient luminescence’ or a ‘play of brilliance’ if desired. I enjoy how light can consolidate a space or isolate an area to establish or change the mood.
