Frensham Presents Little Women

Based on the beloved novel by Louisa May Alcott, Little Women is a timeless coming-of-age story that follows the lives of the four March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, as they navigate the path from childhood to adulthood.

At its heart, Little Women is not only about growing up, but about growing into oneself, with courage, compassion and integrity. Each of the March sisters reflects qualities that resonate deeply within the Frensham community, reminding us that there is no single way to be a young person, no fixed definition of success, and no one path that matters more than another.

Jo’s courage and intellectual independence speak to the importance of finding and using one’s voice. Meg’s integrity and care for others highlight the strength found in empathy and responsibility. Beth’s quiet resilience reminds us that kindness is a powerful and enduring form of leadership, while Amy’s ambition and discipline reflect the value of perseverance and self-belief.

Together, their stories mirror the values we seek to nurture at Frensham, encouraging each student to lead with purpose, to act with compassion, and to strive for growth in their own unique way.

Inspired by Louisa May Alcott’s own life, Little Women also celebrates the power of education, independence and moral courage. Alcott’s enduring words, “I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship,” capture the spirit of both this production and the Frensham experience.

As we celebrate our 2026 Birthday Play, Little Women invites us to reflect on the journey of becoming, of learning to navigate challenges, to remain kind, and to trust in the value of our own path.

Like the March sisters, our students are not only discovering who they are, but how they will contribute to the world, and that journey is something truly worth celebrating.
