Event Dates:

  • Every Sunday, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

A beautiful mansion built in 1834 with charming gardens and one of the largest hedge mazes in Australia, all overlooking historic Berrima.

Perched high on a hill in Gundungurra and Tharawal Country, Harper’s Mansion is a superb example of an early colonial Georgian country house, and a must-see for garden lovers.

Harper’s Mansion was built in 1834 by local publican James Harper and later owned by the Catholic Church. The house was restored by the National Trust from 1978 and is furnished in colonial style.

Visitors can tour the restored mansion and learn about the rise and fall of the Harper family and the rich stories they left behind. Outside, explore two acres of cool-climate gardens that are bursting with perennials and a selection of heritage roses and camellias. A visit wouldn’t be complete without a wander through the extensive hedge maze, planted in 1999 and a constant delight for children.

Dogs are welcome on a lead.
