Welcome to our new annual winter celebration TWISTED™ Festival where we combine all the very best of our seasonal events from the last 5 years into a 10-day Winter Feast Series.
And as the name suggests, we have bent, curled, and distorted all our dinners with our own signature style, drawing upon folklore, tales, entertainment, arts, and make believe to create unique dining adventures.
At the heart of our entire festival is the Winter Solstice. Throughout history, societies across the world have held festivals and ceremonies marking the shortest day of the year, as the day of the “sun’s rebirth.” Celebrations that honour the symbolism of fire and light, along with life, death, the rising sun, and the moon.
Feast of the Beast is the only dinner that will continue to be an outdoor feast cooked over fire. All our NEW feasts during the TWISTED™ Festival, are once only, never to be repeated events. You miss out, its gone and next year it will look different.
We are starting small with 6 feasts in 2022 and these will grow year on year, just as Feast of the Beast continues to do.
After our sold-out event in 2018, 2019, hybrid events in 2020 & 2021, we are back in the forest with food over fire.
This is pure Winter Solstice fun, and we are delighted to welcome partners Terra Firma Dining to bring our fire feast to the table. Charly and his outdoor specialist team will prepare dinner in an open fire pit installation with delicious local produce slowly roasting over the hot coals. This style of dining embraces back to basic cooking techniques, using only fire and the best local ingredients which mirrors the heart of why we put on winter feast.
The menu is designed around outdoor cooking with fire so get ready for culinary theatre with local wines, fire-side music, and revelry as we bring to life our own local Highland ritual. Expect a forest feast with Celtic, Nordic and Highland history, woven in and as we do every year, there are prizes for ‘Best in Feast’ so get your costume ready.
After four years of feasting changes due to fire, wild weather, covid portioning rules and floods we have refined the formula to create a ‘one package fits all’ dining experience. Cost $145 per person for entry which includes the first drink on us!! dinner and entertainment. With the 2-day bump in, firewood, transport, and staffing fees not to mention our chef’s preparing food for 3 days prior to the night, this is an epic event to manage so numbers are limited.
Local wine, beer, mulled wine and cider is available to buy on the night at the bar and a wine glass supplied at entry. This is not a BYO event.
Here is what Charly and his team will be serving
Salmon cooked on wooden planks around the fire served as Bruschetta, with Spiced yogurt sauce and pickles
Main Event
Whole local chicken hung and hot smoked over the coals for 5h hours
Local lamb cooked on the Argentinian cross
Whole pumpkin cooked in hashes, Burnt balsamic and honey dressing, pumpkin seed and feta.
Whole cabbage smoked and charred to make a slaw with burnt citrus dressing, fresh local herbs, dukkha
Dessert
Whole pear baked in hashes, red wine syrup, cinnamon crumble, diplomat whipped cream
Add a glass of our famous mulled wine and it’s going to be a wonderful night, with the past 2 years of chaos a distant memory. And yes, we have arranged a backup wet weather venue in case! As always venue location is sent to booked guests a few days prior.
Expect central feasting tables provided for all, dinner is served by chefs from the fire, bars will be open and music playing. So DRESS UP in your Pagan, Nordic or Celtic BEST. And yes this is a kid friendly event.
What to Bring: Being an outdoor dining experience it is always advisable to wear closed in footwear and bring a warm coat as it is cold in June in the Highlands. And of course, bring your sense of adventure!
