Calling all dogs, hounds, pups, mutts, doggos and pooches to celebrate International Dog Day with their humans at Retford Park.

In celebration James Fairfax’s adoration of his dogs, we invite you and your furry friends to join the festivities at historic Retford Park.

Activities include free gardens tours for dogs and their humans, competitions, an agility course and demonstrations.

Browse a range of stalls selling a variety of dog-related goodies and services.

Step past the dog statues guarding the door of Retford Park, and you’ll find a fascinating history of the mansion and its dog-loving owner, James Fairfax.

Hidden in the garden of this Southern Highlands landmark – Retford Park – is a small cemetery dotted with headstones. Visitors often stop to read the names and ages of the deceased.

Children? NO, the local guides are quick to assure visitors. This is the burial ground of James Fairfax’s much-beloved dogs.
