Solo exhibition by Delia Vilhelm at the Milk Factory Gallery.
‘On the Brink’ gathers a body of paintings that refuse to settle. They hover at the lip of collapse, charged with the uneasy thrill of almost. Interiors skew off-axis, gardens tilt, abstract forms tremble, mythic shards and fractured still lifes vibrate under pressure. Balance isn’t achieved , it is tested. Every composition holds its breath.
In this body of work, fragility is not framed as weakness but as responsiveness – a heightened awareness of pressure, gravity and interdependence. To be “on the brink” is to inhabit a state of alert balance, where continuation and collapse remain equally possible.
ABOUT DELIA
I was born in a small mining town in Transylvania, Romania, where the rugged landscapes and rich cultural heritage served as my early inspiration. In 1990, I embarked on a transformative journey, relocating to the vibrant city of Sydney, Australia, which I now proudly call home. Here, I have passionately pursued my artistic calling and honed my skills as a full-time painter.
My commitment to the craft led me to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from the prestigious National Art School in Sydney, specializing in painting. This educational journey has allowed me to blend my Romanian roots with the diverse artistic influences of Australia, resulting in a unique and captivating body of work
