Peter Campbell & Friends – Album Launch

‘Burden of Hope’ is Australian singer-songwriter Peter Campbell’s fifth album. Produced and engineered by music legend Brendan Gallagher, this collection of songs weave through the landscape of our shared humanity, keeping unerring focus on love and compassion. In July it made a stunning debut on the Folk Alliance International’s FOLK Charts (USA): TOP ALBUMS OF THE MONTH – #20 Burden of Hope; TOP SONGS OF THE MONTH – #16 Burden of Hope; TOP ARTISTS OF THE MONTH – #28 Peter Campbell.

Its official Australian launch will be at the Bundanoon Uniting Church at 4pm (doors 3.45pm), Saturday 13 September.

A Southern Highlander with musical roots deep in the socially conscious 60s and 70s, Pete’s music cuts through the noise. Poetic and powerful, it is a rare blend of infectious alt-folk and contemporary relevance in a call to action, connection and healing. Evocative lyrics, rich melodies and a magnetic stage presence make for a performance that is as entertaining as it is compelling. Expect raucous participation, striking finger-style 6 string, feisty 12 string, tender banjo and arresting a cappella – a powerful reminder of music’s ability to heal and inspire.

Pete’s second album, Across the Border, was produced by folk legend Noel Paul Stookey (Paul of Peter, Paul & Mary fame) at his studio in Blue Hill, Maine, USA. PP&M covered his song ‘Wild Places’ on their album Such is Love and he toured with them. In 2020 and Pete wrote ‘Waited Too Long’ which became the anthem for the United Nations International Summit on Domestic/Family Violence in the COVID-19 Era, a three-day online conference out of New York with delegates from 47 countries and opened by the Pope. Motivated by the response, and with a wealth of material that had never been heard, Pete returned to the folk stage at the inaugural Bundanoon Folk Festival in 2022 after a rewarding career in design.
