“Let us read, and let us dance; these two amusements will never do any harm to the world”. Voltaire
Glen Preece – Poets and Dancers
A collection of 40 recent works exploring many different subjects and moods.
Landscapes such as ‘Symphony – Huon Valley’ where birds fly above a haunting river like musical notes or the small ‘Summer – Pages Road’ a scene of a rare hot morning in Southern Tasmania where the artist lives. There are figurative works like ‘Two Fisherman’ and ‘The Dancer’ both capturing the different mood of the subject.
There are portraits, a small nude and even a 2 metre long collage of Glen’s shopping lists on which he habitually doodles.
“There are troubles in the world at the moment and I guess there always will be but there is also much beauty to be found in the landscape, in people, in colour, in music and in the poets and the dancers.”
Glen Preece is a representational painter and has been working in oil for almost 60 years. He has been exhibiting with Darlinghurst Galleries (formerly Artarmon Galleries) since 1982 and in London with the Panter and Hall Gallery, Pall Mall for the past 20 years. Portrait commissions include Colin Cameron and the late Dame Joan Sutherland. His work can be found in collections worldwide.
