Learn the practical skills to grow new plants from cuttings, division and seed in the beautiful surrounds of the Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens Propagation Workshop.
A hands-on workshop that will build confidence, inspire gardeners of all levels, and help you take home techniques you can use for years to come.
The workshop will cover:
Selecting the best plant material – a practical session as we walk around the gardens looking for good cutting material
Best methods to take cuttings – how to trim your cuttings for best rooting of new plants
Home setup for good success with cuttings – proven ways to ensure survival and rooting of cuttings in the home environment
Potting mix for cuttings – what works in individual environments. Including natives vs exotics.
Fertilising cuttings – ensuring cuttings become plants
Potting up – when and how to pot up a cutting so it lives
Information presentations and hands-on learning. We will break for morning tea with home made delights from our Baking Friends of the Gardens.
At the end of the day you take home an SHBG bag including propagation mix, propagating pots, printed step by step guide to plant propagation and some cutting material to try at home.
Gloves essential and your own secateurs.
Cost $75 ($70 for current Financial Friends of the Gardens) including morning tea and all materials
