‘Out of the Blue’ is a rural romance by award-winning Australian author Penelope Janu. The novel explores courage, healing and unexpected love. It follows Flick Atherton, a wildlife researcher working with migratory birds, who takes an assignment in the sub-Antarctic. There she clashes with Sebastien Thorsen, a driven Norwegian air-force pilot leading the UN environmental team. As they work in a close-knit, isolated community, both are forced to confront personal fears and past trauma, leading to an unexpected connection. Back home, Flick must decide whether she can move beyond her past and embrace love.
